In your pocket

The First Six app

Everything First Six does, native on the phone students actually carry: today's plan, a weekly check-in, help that reaches a human, and their timetable, events and campus maps a tap away.

The first year, in their pocket

Four things students reach for most, each a tap from Today.

One download, and the first year comes with them. Today, wellbeing, help, timetable, events and maps, all native, all calm, all in a pocket.

Built for the phone, not shrunk to fit

Students live on their phones, so First Six meets them there. The app is the same companion as the web experience, rebuilt native for iOS and Android: fast, offline-friendly, and quiet until it matters. It opens on Today, a single calm screen that answers "what do I need to know right now" with this week's briefing, the next thing on their timetable, and a one-tap wellbeing check-in.

Nothing here is a stripped-back mobile afterthought. The weekly check-in, the help inbox that reaches a real person, the timetable they can edit, campus events they can RSVP to, and pinch-to-zoom campus maps all carry across bar for bar. Push notifications nudge gently: a check-in reminder, a reply from the team, an event about to start, never noise.

What students do in the app

Four things students reach for most, each a tap from Today.

01

Open on Today

A single calm screen: this week's briefing, what's next on their timetable, and a gentle prompt to check in. No feed, no noise, just what matters this week.

02

Check in for the week

A five-face check-in that takes seconds. Answers stay private, build into a quiet trajectory only the student sees, and quietly flag to staff when someone asks for help.

03

Ask for help, reach a human

The help inbox is a real conversation, not a bot. Students raise what's going on, see who's on it, and get replies from named staff, all threaded in one place.

04

Plan the week

Their timetable, editable and draggable, plus campus events they can RSVP to and add, and pinch-to-zoom maps for finding the room. The practical side of first year, sorted.

The first year, in their pocket

One download and First Six comes with them: calm on Today, private on wellbeing, human on help, and practical on everything else.

What we never do. The line between support and surveillance, drawn clear.

Support means seeing the pattern, not the person. We built the line between helping and watching into the product itself.

Plugs into the systems you already run

SSO, roster sync, calendar integration. Your stack stays yours, and your students see only your university.

Outbound webhooks

Subscribe your own systems to signed First Six events (request created, crisis, updated, resolved), delivered over HTTPS with an HMAC signature you verify.

Help desk & CRM (email-to-ticket)

When a student asks for help, open a ticket in the help desk your staff already watch (ServiceNow, Salesforce, Jira Service Management, Zendesk), via email-to-case.

Calendar (ICS)

Add events to the calendar students already use.

Student information system

Sync enrolment and audience groups from your student information system. CSV roster import is available today; the direct push endpoint is in early access.

SAML 2.0

Single sign-on via SAML 2.0. In progress.

OpenID Connect (OIDC)

Standards-based single sign-on via OpenID Connect.

Microsoft Entra ID

Single sign-on via Microsoft Entra ID using OIDC.

FAQ

Questions about how First Six works and what it does for your students.

Is the app a different product from the web experience?

No. It is the same First Six companion, rebuilt native for the phone. The mobile web view is the design spec, so the app matches it bar for bar: the same check-in, the same help inbox, the same timetable, events and maps.

Do students need a separate login?

No. They sign in with their university SSO, the same identity they use everywhere else. There is no new password to create or forget.

What do notifications actually send?

Only what helps: a weekly check-in reminder, a reply from the support team, and a nudge when an event they said yes to is about to start. Notifications are opt-in and quiet by default, never a marketing feed.

Is the app on both iOS and Android?

Yes. It is one native codebase built for both, so students on either platform get the same experience and updates land together.

Is wellbeing data private?

Check-in answers belong to the student and build a trajectory only they see. Staff are alerted when a student asks for help or flags in a check-in, so support is proactive without being surveillance. The same privacy rules as the rest of First Six apply.

See it for your next cohort.
